Welcome to Rutland Riding Club!
It is that time of year again! Renewal forms and new membership forms are below for your convenience. As explained at the AGM, the cost of Membership has increased by £1 in order to cover increases from BRC and elsewhere. We look forward to seeing you all next year!
AGM Prize Giving
The following prizes were presented at the AGM on 22nd November 2018.
The ‘Points Cup’ and ‘Dame Mary Trophy’ dulplicate each other because points were earned only in RRC dressage competitions as there were no RRC show jumping competitions this year.
BRC Area 16 Qualifier Competitions
Well the members of Rutland Riding Club have been very busy representing the Club at three different Area Qualifiers over the last few weeks, including Winter Dressage, Winter Novice and Intermediate Show Jumping and a new qualifier, Arena Eventing.
The Dressage results and report has already been submitted by Jane Ellis our Team Manager for Dressage, which remains for me to give a little précis of what has happened at Speetley and Arena UK.
Rutland Riding Club had a very early start of 8.30 am to run in the 100cm Arena Eventing Class. At Speetley on 21st October. The team of Karin Williamson, Kelly Hetherington, Megan Page and Nicky Polson only went and won the class, with Megan winning the individual prize so they have all qualified for the Championships at Aston Le Walls on 9th & 10th March 2019. The 80 cm team of Sue Holroyd, Katie Holroyd, Mandy Sanders and Georgina Sharples had mixed rounds but the team ended up 6th! It was also an early start for our helpers, Rosemary David and Mel Bennett who braved the cold but sunny day acting as collecting ring stewards, and they were replaced by myself and Charlotte Payne for the second half of the day. Our thanks must go to them for earning extra brownie points as our helpers.
The next Qualifier was at Arena UK on 4th November and again we had a 100cm team as well as an 80cm team. The 100cm team were placed 4th (Kelly, Nicky Polson and Karin Williamson) with Kelly Hetherington being 2nd individually so she may qualify for the Championships if the winner was in the 1st placed team (not sure of full results at the moment). The 80cm team of Sue and Katie Holroyd, Sarah Pointon and Georgina Sharples were placed 2nd which is great, but again I am not party to the full individual results at the moment, as I am sure one team member should have been placed individually. The Championships for the Winter Jumping Series takes place at Arena UK on 30th & 31st March 2019. Again our helpers were Bobby Horne and Rosemary David so thanks again.
Also on at the same time as the Winter Jumping was the Festival of the Horse Combined Training Qualifier held at Arena UK and our team of Vicky Byers-Brown, Sue Scarrott and Georgina Sharples did their best with a depleted team, and Vicky did a lovely show jumping round for 4 faults, but this was a very good result as she is new to this kind of competition and I was glad she was not overcome with nerves!!
Just to say well done everybody for turning up and turning out so well to represent the riding club and coming home with such good results. It makes my job a lot more enjoyable when everyone is enjoying themselves despite weather conditions. We can now look forward to all the summer qualifiers coming up in the New Year!
Fiona Edmunds - Team Manager
This year the Club is celebrating its 50th Anniversary!
Rosemary would like to thank everybody who contributed to making the 50th Celebration Show, in June, a very happy and successful day. The dressage and show jumping results are now available on the 'Results' page .
RRC Teams for Area 16 competitions
Team Managers usually circulate an email to all the members they think will be interested in joining a team for the various Area 16 competitions. However, if you are interested in taking part in any of the Area Qualifier Competitions, please contact the team manager listed on the Events page well in advance. Competitions include the discliplines of dressage, show jumping, eventing.

Third Party Liability Insurance
Recent tightening of rules regarding insurance liability have prompted the following clarification. Membership of Rutland Riding Club, or other BRC affiliated Clubs, provides the rider with third party liability insurance in the unfortunate event of an accident occuring at a training event or competition (provided that they are complying with BRC rules such as hat rules). It is a requirement that all competitors have third party liabilty insurance at the time of entry to our competitions and non-members should be able to provide evidence of their insurance.

Affiliated to British Riding Clubs
We are based in Rutland with around 100 senior members from a wide area stretching from Melton Mowbray to Peterborough, Stamford and Grantham. We run a busy programme of events each year with competitions in dressage, show jumping and combined training once a month and training is available in both disciplines for all abilities.
We also run Jumpcross and TREC clinics which have proved popular. These events take place at various venues in the area, mentioned above, as we are not based in any one particular place.
The club is affiliated to British Riding Clubs and falls within Area 16. We are regularly represented at Riding Club Area Competitions with teams and individuals in the very wide choice of disciplines available. This has enabled us to send members to the Championships in most years with notable successes.
We are always happy to welcome new members, whatever their riding capability. For our non-riding members we regularly run social events.
