Annual Prizes 2022

Very well done to Bella Craven and Colletto Boy, aka Colin, who accumulated the most points in 2021/2022 riding both for the Club, at Area Qualifiers, and at Club competitions! The last person to win was Rachel Finch , back in 2019, as Covid interrupted the awarding of annual prizes at the AGM.

Disappointingly, there were very few people at the AGM in Preston on Thursday (only 2 non Committee members) but prizes will be passed on.

The full list of prize winners is given in the ‘News’ Section. The Points Cup is for dressage competitions only and the Dame Mary Trophy is for both dressage and jumping. The other awards are explained on the grid.

BRC Dressage to Music Championships at Bury Farm 30th September

Reports below from Anna and Rosemary:

Chico and I arrived at Bury Farm just in time to see Rosemary and Robin perform their test. They looked great and performed very professionally with dramatic music, so well done to them.

Then it was my turn - Chico was a star and danced his way through Beach Boy themed music. However, I found myself ahead of the music fairly early on and had a minor panic and went slightly wrong with the floor plan, which meant I had to rectify the issue. It did detract from the overall look and subsequently dropped me a few % however, we did finish a creditable 7th, amongst some very good combinations, so came home with a nice rosette.

Both Rosemary and I are very proud of our boys !!

Anna

I don’t have much to add to Anna’s excellent account. I was very pleased and proud of Robin. We both did our best riding a difficult and demanding floor plan to the dramatic music!! This was on loan from Bert, who had ridden it Internationally in the past, on more than one of her horses, with some success. Sadly the judges did not appreciate either of these points but Robin & I really enjoyed the challenge.

It is just a shame that the day was spoilt by all the trauma on our journey home.

Area 16 Dressage and Show Jumping Qualifier 9th and 10th July

Well done to all that came in the blazing heat this weekend for the Area 16 Qualifiers at Arena UK.

The dressage team consisting of Bella Craven, Tamsyn Bushell, Kelly Hetherington and Annette Lumb were 5th with placings of: Tamsyn 4th in Novice 30; Kelly 3rd in Novice 39; Bella 8th in E42. Clare Bell, riding a very green Edgar, rode a fabulous N24 test and came 4th and Sarah Silman riding Lucky Jim were 4th in P14. Congratulations to everyone!!

On Sunday, we had 2 individuals competing. In the 80 cm show jumping, Sarah Silman and Lucky Jim jumped a lovely round with just one pole to come 18th out of a huge field of 45. Karen Williamson-Thomas jumped a clear round in the 90cm class for 2nd place. Huge well done to them both.

Also a huge thank you to our volunteers . This weekend - Rosemary David, Anna Woodal, Deirdre Haynes and particularly to Mary Finney, who stepped in very last minute. We hugely appreciate it - without the volunteers the competitions cannot run.
