VOLUNTEER DEMO RIDERS NEEDED

An opportunity for basically free lessons with trainee coaches, overseen by Linda Pearce and Tom Fray. So the volunteers are helping the next generation of coaches and also hopefully learning something for free!

The dates are as follows:

UKCC L1 course (Flatwork and some poles) Each rider would do 3x 20 min session in groups of 2 or 3 and probably looking for 12 riders sessions probably starting at 2pm and 3.15pm.

Monday 7th September, Monday 5th October, Monday 9th November, Monday 16th November

UKCC L2 course (Competent flatwork and jumping 80/90cm) Each rider would do one 30min flat and one 30min jump session, in groups of 2 or 3 and probably looking for 12-15 riders.. sessions starting at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. Later in the year we will be starting coaching sessions earlier as the nights draw in.

Wednesday 9th September, Wednesday 7th October, Wednesday 4th November, Wednesday 18th November, Wednesday 25th November

We will need to confirm exact times and numbers but this is a good start. We are aiming for groups of 3 riders so if we have last minute drop outs then we are not left with individuals. This has also gone to other clubs.

BRC Novice  Winter Dressage Qualifier 10th October, 2020, Arena UK

Many thanks to all those who rode at the Novice Winter Dressage Qualifier, held at Arena UK under strict Covid guidelines - a new experience for all concerned!

Rutland sent two Teams and two individuals to the Qualifier and there were some consistent marks across the board. Sadly, the Teams did not make the top six placings, but Kelly Hetherington and A Rio Negra finished fourth in the individual line up in Novice 24. Full results are posted in the Results area of the website

Special thanks are due to Sue Scarrott, who stewarded all day and kept smiling! Clubs have to provide a steward for each Team entered at an Area Qualifier, so it would be great to see Team members nominating a friend to help out, or Club members stepping forward to volunteer. If you would like to help, please contact the Team  Managers

British Riding Clubs Update 16.07.2020

COVID-19 Update
With further announcements from the UK and devolved governments, BRC are now able to issue the following update with regards to BRC activities. It should be noted that whilst the respective governments are producing regular updates, these then require careful consideration and interpretation, to make the guidance relevant to our individual sector. The following updates are BRC’s current interpretation of the most recent government guidance and are subject to change, as and when government advice is updated. All updates in this document are effective from the date of this document unless otherwise stated.
Dressage to Music
It is still our intention to proceed with the 2020 Dressage to Music Championships. As such, qualifiers for this event may take place, following our COVID-19 guidelines, from 1 July in England and Northern Ireland (see below for details). It should be noted that the Quadrille and Pairs classes will not take place this year.
Local Lockdowns / Restrictions
Where local lockdown restrictions are in place, BRC follow the BEF guidance which can be found here https://www.britishequestrian.org.uk/news/lockdown-changes-in-scotland-and-leicester No BRC activities are permitted within a local lockdown area until this is lifted by the government.

BRC Exclusive Virtual Dressage Competition.

Dear Club Chair and Secretary,

We are delighted to be working with Zvari Marketing & Excel Shows Team (both of whom were key players in the Virtual Eventing Fundraiser) to bring you the BRC Exclusive Virtual Dressage Competition.

Zvari & Excel have partnered with BRC to produce a fun but practical competition format for riding club teams and individuals, that will take place on 26 -28 June 2020 (footage to be sent in sooner)! With three individual classes including freestyle to music and two team competitions, there is certainly something for everyone. The series of programmes are scheduled to run across the BRC social platforms over the three days. With limited entries available why not check out the attached schedule for the full details and to make your entry. Entries open Wednesday 20 May and are strictly on a first-come-first-served basis. Entries are limited.

In light of the current strains on the NHS and Equine Charities, through this event we are pleased to be supporting NHS Charities Together and the British Horse Society. The BHS continues to support approved riding centres and their incredible horses during this crisis. Aside from the main competition there is a separate competition with prizes for the clubs who fund raise the largest amount of money for our two chosen charities. Each club with representatives in the competition will be assigned their own club JustGiving page as well as having access to the attached sponsorship form for your use.

Please note: In the unlikely event of this competition being cancelled (i.e. government restrictions dramatically changing) all entries will be refunded in full within 5 working days of notification of cancellation.

We look forward to welcoming you to this virtual event!

For all general event enquiries please contact brc.shows@gmail.com

Kind Regards

Update on BRC Area 16 Summer Qualifiers and National Championships

Please note that the Area 16 Qualifiers, scheduled for 11th and 12th July at Arena UK, and the National Championships in August, are cancelled due to Coronavirus restrictions.
BRC has cancelled all events until 30th June, so RRC are not insured to run any events before then.
We hope that all our members, and their families and friends, are keeping well.

BRC coronavirus update 16:30 Tuesday 17 March 2020

After the government’s update yesterday eventing (Monday 16 March 2020), we are now able to issue the following updates:

1.       We strongly recommend that no riding club activities of any nature should take place from midnight tonight, up to and including 30th June 2020. This decision has been taken to support the government’s most recent advice on social distancing, reducing pressures on the NHS and the care of vulnerable individuals.

2.       We would encourage committee meetings to take place virtually if possible, to enable planning for future activities once restrictions are lifted.

3.       In line with this advice, we regret to announce the cancellation of the following BRC championships:

a.       SEIB Novice Winter Championships at Arena UK on 28 - 29 March 2020

b.       HorseHage and Mollichaff Intermediate Winter Championships at Bury Farm on 24 – 26 April 2020

c.       FiberBeet Festival of the Horse Championships at Aston-le-Walls on 30 – 31 May 2020

d.       NAF Five Star Horse Trials Championships at Swalcliffe Park Equestrian on 7 - 9 August 2020

With the current 30 June restriction, the first three championships fall under the time frame as detailed above. Whilst the National Horse Trials Championships fall outside of this restriction period, we are mindful that it would leave a very short window in which to hold qualifiers. Various options have been explored with regards to the event format and entry requirements, however, due to the nature of the event, it has not been possible to find a safe and viable way forward.

All championship entries that have been processed for the above cancelled events will be refunded in accordance with our refund policy detailed in Rule G2.3, which is that a 75% refund will be issued. Although our stable bookings are non-refundable, we are aware that this is a very difficult time for our members, and so we have taken the decision to refund all stable bookings in full on this occasion. The team here at HQ will be working to process these as soon as practically possible, however, please do bear with us as this will undoubtedly take some time.

This is a very challenging time for us all and we know that you are understandably worried about the on-going care of your horses. The BHS will be updating their advice and guidance on the common issues we all now face with regards to our equestrian pursuits.

We are aware that the situation is constantly evolving, and we will issue regular communications to keep you informed of any further updates in line with government advice.

The BRC team and committee are extremely disappointed to lose these events as we enjoy running them as much as you all enjoy attending. However, in the current climate it’s important that we all take the responsible approach.
