BRC Area 16 Novice and Intermediate Winter Dressage Qualifiers

The two Area 16 Winter Dressage Qualifiers took place on 6 October at Arena UK on a very wet and windy day, which made riding conditions very unpleasant for everyone. However, it was a fantastic day for Rutland Riding Club, as our Teams won both the Novice and Intermediate competitions, also taking second place in the Intermediate Qualifier. There were many excellent individual placings, as can be seen from the results

Dawn Ross, Bella Craven, Tamsyn Iveson and Mel Bennett all achieved high scoring arena placings to win the Novice Qualifier, as did Dawn, Tamsyn, Mel and Pippa Owen, when they went on to win the Intermediate Qualifier in the afternoo

Enormous thanks and congratulations are due to everyone  who represented the Club; the wind and the rain were awful and all the horses worked really well, despite the conditions; a huge credit to our riders for all their hard work.

BRC Area Dressage Qualifier: 17th June, 2018, Arena UK

The Club sent four Teams and two Individuals to the Area Qualifier, held at Arena UK. The Preliminary Dressage Team was =3rd, dropping to 4th when the fourth rider was included, in order to split the result.  Carol McCarthy was 2nd in her arena and we hope Carol will have qualified for the Championships at Lincoln in early September. Sarah Bowker was 3rd in her arena.

The Open Dressage Team was unplaced, but Jane Armstrong was placed 5th, individually, in Novice 27 .

The two Riding Test Teams were 3rd and 4th, with Jane Armstrong taking 2nd place in the Novice Riding Test and we hope Jane will have qualified for Lincoln. Emily Lumb was 5th in the Novice Riding Test and Julia Cole also took 5th place in the Preliminary Riding Test

The Individual qualifiers saw Rosemary David in 1st place in the Elementary Dressage to Music; a lovely test that will take her and Royal Mail to the Dressage to Music Championships at Bury Farm at the end of September. Many congratulations to Rosemary!New to Medium Tests, Pippa Owen and Claude Debussy were a credible 6th in the Medium/Advanced Medium qualifier

Many thanks to everyone for competing; another long day and, unfortunately issues with calculating the results for the Riding Test, which delayed things further. The full results are in the Results section

BRC Novice and Intermediate Winter Dressage Championships

Fiona Edmunds and Pearl Catcher and Jane Armstrong and Cork Beauty represented the Club at the recent Winter Championships.Fiona competed in the Novice 28  individual class at the Novice Championships, held on the 14th April at Arena UK and did well to get a solid Test out of a very excitable PC! Jane and Beauty went to the Intermediate Championships at Bury Farm on 27th April and were placed in the individual Novice 30 class, coming 9th. Marks were very close after the top placings.Congratulations to both riders, as it has not been easy preparing for the Championships with the poor weather conditions over the winter and spring. Team Manager Jane Ellis.

Third Party Liability Insurance

Recent clarifications about riders' insurance  are outlined below.

Members of British Riding Clubs, including Rutland Riding Club, are covered for insurance purposes at RRC events provided that they follow Riding Club Rules e.g. hat and tack rules. Only competitors are allowed to ride in the warm up and competition areas at competitions and the 'named' rider at training events. Riders who are not members of BRC, need to have proof of their own third party liability insurance at the time of entry for training or competitions and proof may be requested by the event organisers.BHS Gold members are similarly covered for third party liability purposes provided they comply with Riding Club rules.
